History & Facts about the South Georgia Classic Car Club

- Founded in January, 1984 by Mike Bennett & Buddy Walker.

- Mike Bennett was the 1st President.

- Bill Malone, our fifth president designed club logo.

- Current President is Joey Weldon.

- More than 70 families in membership, with nearly 200 cars and trucks.

- Dues are $30 per year for the entire family.

- Emphasis is on cars of the 50's & 60's but all are welcome.

- Monthly meetings usually gather between 30 and 50 members.

- We host a monthly cruise at Toys-R-Us.

- We plan and go on a "long range" cruise quarterly.

- We host a picnic every May for the Lowndes County Sheriff Boy's Ranch

- The annual car show called the "Fall Classic".

- Many club members work in the auto industry or after-market business, and
several members are active duty and retired veterans.

- We have a monthly newsletter called "The Driver's Seat"

- We have equipment such as engine hoists, engine stands, a welder, air
compressor, etc. to support our hobby, and are for use by our members

- Our club mascot car is a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 "Mayberry" police cruiser. It
even has a working period-correct radar detector. The car was restored in
1994 by club members and each club member takes pride in ownership of the
car.
